The top of the Star of David is made of 9 k gold. The bottom part, made of sterling silver, has three delicate plates engraved with one of the 72 names of God, according to Kabbalistic principles. The silver part is engraved with Samech-Alef-Lamed. The combination Samech-Alef-Lemed is believed to be a virtue for abundance and success.
The gold part is engraved with the verse: "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine"(Ani Ledodi VeDodi Li). This is the mutual promise that the bride and groom share at the Jewish wedding. The verse is from the book Song of Songs, written by King Solomon, originally expresses love to God, and refers to the reciprocal relationship between God and the people of Israel. |
